There is no denying the special culture surrounding nostalgic Japanese cars.  Classified as vehicles from the mid-80's and earlier, these cars have gained massive popularity in recent years.  The latest version of the Fast and Furious franchise called Fast Five, even featured an old school Skyline driven by Paul Walker's character.  Compared to their modern counterparts, character is exactly what these nostalgic cars possess.  They have the singular ability to transport their owners back in time and allow one to relive childhood memories.

As we walked around the event, we noticed the guys from the Japanese Classic Car Show handing out flyers for their upcoming huge show in September.  If you love these cars, the JCCS event is not to be missed.  The owners of Japanese Nostalgic Car were also present fielding a booth selling JNC merchandise as well as Hot Wheels die-cast models created under the styling direction of Jun Imai from Hot Wheels/Mattel.  The Hot Wheels nostalgic series have reignited our love for die-cast cars and we look forward to seeing more released in the coming future.  The thrill is all in the hunt, whether you are at the local Toys R' Us or Target.  It always feels great to rummage through the hundreds of Hot Wheels cars on the rack to find the exact one that you have been searching for...JACKPOT!

Earlier this year, our long time acquaintance and fellow car enthusiast/journalist, Richard S. Chang, wrote an editorial for the New York Times about this very topic...the surging interest of early Japanese cars as collectibles.  Richard's article is both informative and entertaining.  Click on the link and check it out!

It was a pleasant surprise to find that JDM Legends made the trek from Utah to display two Skylines.  JDM Legends has carved out their own niche of sourcing and restoring these classics.  Give them a call if you are in the hunt for one.
